Rachel is an owl.  She plays the mascot, Holly, for the Orem Owls. She shares this job with one other girl in our ward.  She really likes it and is really good at it.

We are glad that Rachel has a job and Christopher has a full time job now.  Scott, Lynne and Paige are still looking.  No luck.  So I'm putting together scrap books of my work at Hillcrest, and the little bit of theater I've been doing lately.  I'm hoping that a job comes through soon so we can pay our mortgage.  But....
If you see us out on the curb begging from our van, I would hope you would stop and help.  Because:  We'll sing for our supper.

  

 

Paige is taking more pictures.  She just did a bunch of the fireworks at last nights Owl game.  I think she does a fabulous job.

This past week has been life changing for our family.  Scott was fired from the care center where he has worked for the past 24 years.  People are up in arms.  Family members of the residents, nurses, doctors out in the community.  One said, "Who do I call?"  Another said, "Who do I kill?"  This doesn't make sense to many people.  Even those who are suppose to take over for Scott and the administrator who will work at another facility.  We are all very baffled.  We also think that they will be in a world of hurt soon.  They may even come crawling back to ask Scott to come back.  And if they do........ More money will be asked for and only one supervisor.  Ask Scott what all of this means.  He knows the ins and outs.

So, this means that Scott will be looking for another job, visiting his acting agent, and  finishing the writing of his book.  I, too, will need a job this summer.  What's out there for me?  I just want to be at home reading, or watching TV.  I guess I can go and flip burgers at McDonalds.

Christopher graduates at the end of this month. He is working on packets so he can.  Rachel wants to try out for the Orem soccer team in August so she's out kicking her ball around every day.  Paige is out of school for the summer and looking for a job.  Michael will start a new job at the Lindon Wal Mart hair salon.  Joel and Nyla are working their way to being sealed in July.  Exciting stuff.  Everyone wants to be us!

Rachel's favorite actor right now is Leonardo DiCaprio. (Rachel just informed me that it isn't just right now, it's been like..... forever.  And will be forever.)   We have watched all the movies we have with him at our house over this spring break week.  What other films has he done?  We went to look and he's coming out with some new ones soon.  We also found some stupid list of the 50 best actors of all time...... we don't agree with half of them. I just found out that Scott's old love is coming to Utah in July.  A shindig is being put together.  So..... what do I do?  I guess I should lose about 100 pounds and show up in my glamorous clothes and whitened teeth.  Jewels would be needed.  Or I guess I could stay home.  Staying home might just be the thing.  Or this could be the motivation to lose some of the weight I need to.  At least for the day she'll be here.  It's such a dilemma.

Now onto more important things.  I'm so proud of my children.  They are doing their part to keep the commandments and learn more about the gospel.  Rachel is reading in the New Era.  She is also reading the Book of Mormon and being a kind friend.  She is trying to get the most out of school and seminary.  I'm so pleased with the progress she is making.  She just reminded us that Conference is in one minute.  She's keeping us on the straight and narrow path.

Some of my favorite highlights.  Two words:  Stop it.  Thank you Elder Uchtdorf. There is some much for me to stop so that I can go forward and on to a better me and to make my family life better and our relationships stronger.

Also, "Come Thou Fount" was so awe inspiring and really needs to be in the hymn book as does "Faith In Every Footstep."  I love the music in conference.  Elder Holland's talk, as always, was very significant to me and to others in my home.  Now to listen to the last session.

I don't mind being fifty.  I don't mind being fat...... most of the time.  But when my cute co-workers come to work in the most DARLING clothes and the CUTEST bodies...... then is when I mind being the big 5 0.  Well, and larger than life.  And my eyes don't like to focus and see things close up.  Rats!  I'm getting old.  That I can't change, but the fat part...... I know I can, but do I have the motivation?  It would be so much easier if I didn't have to give up sugar and carbohydrates.  Not to skip over the fact that I need to exercise as well.   Sheesh!

The other thing is you have to have lots of money to dress the way the cute people dress.  You have to have those green bills with high dollar amounts to get the types of clothes I need.  You know, extra fabric equals extra bucks.  Lane Bryant ain't cheap.  Oh well..... maybe in the  next life.  Will there be sugar there?

Nothing of grand proportion has happened since the last post.  I needed something to do in the computer lab is all.  Oh, wait!  Rachel received her Patriarchal Blessing this past Sunday.  She is a very special and wonderful girl.  But then, we knew that already.  Also, rehearsals for "Crossing Delancey" have begun.  It's fun.  I'm going to have a great time.  I'm happy to be in the play for many reasons, but the first one is that I get to spend some time with my hubby.  Scott is so busy these days what with his job and then his writing.  We hardly see each other.  So being in the play that he is directing will be nice.  Plus I get to memorize all of those lines.  I guess I could do that in the computer lab.   Naaaah!

Saw "The Hunger Games" this morning.  We all loved it.  I think we all would have turned around and watched it again if there had been seats.  Great movie.  Well acted, well scripted, and once I got use to the jiggly camera, well shot.  I highly recommend it for anyone over 13.  Because, yes, it is violent.
